I had an issue this week with a race. I had a £10 back bet elsewhere, and a lay bet on smarkets. It should have equated to a 50p loss, but rule 4 deductions came into play.
To cut a long story short, I ended up with a £40 hit. I’ve never had this kind of disparity before - my back bet was reduced by 25p in the £1 in line with the bookmaker regs, but the smarkets lay bet was reduced by 2.5%.
I’d be most keen to understand why this happened, but it was very disappointing that live chat wouldn’t help me understand why, and just re-stated facts.
Anyway, I still don’t understand why it happened the way it did, but lesson learnt - I’ll be a lot more careful using smarkets on horse racing.
