Hole 1 proving a difficult hole yesterday. No birdies from that lot. I admit , I was wrong.

Still open and value around. Old saying, u can’t win the event on the first round but u can lose it. Greens are rude as to get up and down on.

Hovland was impressive after a triple on the first

One observation I did make from yesterday was the players, were being a bit more defensive on the putts. They know if they overhit the ball by a bit, it could run past the hole. So I think the greens are quite quick paced and players aren’t taking that risk.

This is the hole by hole betting for Justin Rose on Day 2, which gives an indication of the difficulty of each hole IMO.

Justin Rose Hole Performance for Day 2:

Hole 1: Birdie or better 5.93, Par 1.39, Bogey or Worse 3.91

Hole 2: Birdie or better 1.77, Par 2.05, Bogey or Worse 8.90

Hole 3: Birdie or better 3.48, Par 1.42, Bogey or Worse 6.51

Hole 4: Birdie or better 8.63, Par 1.25, Bogey or Worse 3.50

Hole 5: Birdie or better 9.73, Par 1.56, Bogey or Worse 2.50

Hole 6: Birdie or better 5.50, Par 1.27, Bogey or Worse 4.60

Hole 7: Birdie or better 6.00, Par 1.37, Bogey or Worse 3.50

Hole 8: Birdie or better 1.92, Par 1.77, Bogey or Worse 11

Hole 9: Birdie or better 5.13, Par 1.52, Bogey or Worse 3.60

Hole 10: Birdie or better 6.57, Par 1.52, Bogey or Worse 3.02

Hole 11: Birdie or better 7.74, Par 1.60, Bogey or Worse 2.10

Hole 14: Birdie or better 6.00, Par 1.30, Bogey or Worse 3.86

Hole 15: Birdie or better 1.75, Par 2.44, Bogey or Worse 4.80

Hole 16: Birdie or better 3.10, Par 1.57, Bogey or Worse 4.25

Hole 17: Birdie or better 7.00, Par 1.42, Bogey or Worse 2.90

Hole 18: Birdie or better 6.17, Par 1.55, Bogey or Worse 2.75

There might be some value in the 3.10 for birdie on 16. Rose is 2nd on the PGA tour approaching from 150-175, this hole is 170 and he’s obviously swinging well. He averages 22ft from the pin from that range so would be likely to have a reasonable putt, would come down to whether he makes it. Makes 45% of putts from 10-15 ft if he hits a good iron shot.

I can’t remember the Rd 2 pin position though. Rd 3 is back right on the elevated area and Rd 4 is front left where the ball feeds down.

Rose was able to birdie or better on holes : 8,9 ,10, 12,13,15,16,17 on Day 1

Just like that Justin Rose from -7 to -4 and has a lead of only 1 shot

and wham bham we now have an equal leader : Rose -4 and Wiesberger -4
